The Child and the Book Conference 2012 - Day 0: Touring Cambridge

Beisde the wonderful weather, this was the treat the early birds have earned - a guided tour by our special envoy Elspeth, daughter of Debbie, who knows Cambridge like the back of her hand. The group gathered on King's Parade outside St Mary the Great church. Notice "Auntie's Teashop" in the background. Personally, I think they serve the best scones in the the world.

Our tour started with a brief background story of the university in front of the Senate House.

The procession walked pass the Gate of Honour of Gonville and Caius College, heading to Trinity Hall.

The group was introduced to Trinity Hall's Coat of Arm in the college's courtyard.

In Latham Court backs, enjoying the view of River Cam and the nice weather.

Punts on River Cam and bridges are landmarks of  the city. In the background is the Garret Hostel Bridge.

For two years in a row (probably more, but that was before my time) the Child and the Book conference is blessed with splendid weather. It certainly marks a good start of our 3-day conference. May the fun begin!
